About Skyhook
So we've told you what it can do, but what exactly is a Skyhook? A Skyhook, also known as a space elevator, is an impossibly wondrous device with it's roots in science fiction. Casual space travel may seem a bit fantastic to us today, but imagine how impossible the internet must have seemed 60 years ago. Yet, here we are.
It is our belief that Bitcoin, or something like it, has the potential to be our civilization’s next Skyhook.
Bitcoin has an open design that provides equal access and accountability to all. We believe that to truly utilize this potential, services built on top of Bitcoin must also be open and fair. This is the reason that Project Skyhook is on path to become open-source. And we mean completely. From the CAD design of the case and assembly instructions, to the last bit of code.

How does it work?
First you connect Skyhook to your secure network. Follow the setup guide and enter the Operator Panel. You’ll enter sending address, corresponding API data, reporting preferences, contact information, and a device password. You then set a price, and you're ready to start selling Bitcoin!
How much does it cost?

Do I need special permission to operate a Skyhook?
Possibly. Some regulatory requirements may exist for your local jurisdiction. If you are unsure, it is always a good idea to first seek advice from an attorney before placing an order.
Do you take a fee for your service?
No. You paid for it, and you own it, so you control it. From the strike price of the coin you're selling to the private keys, you control it all.
Is the unit FCC and CE certified?
Yes, each component within the case is certified.
Is there a warranty on this device?
Yes, 90 days parts.

What about counterfeit bills?
Skyhook’s bill acceptor is incredibly good at detecting counterfeit bills. Each bill acceptor ships with the latest currency recognition firmware to combat fraud. In addition, the manufacturer is able to quickly identify, assess and resolve issues whenever new threats are identified.
The device is small, is it physically secure?
Yes, each device will ship with a steel mounting plate for countertop use. An optional braided steel security cable can also be used for non-mounted use.
What fees can I charge?
Skyhook currently supports the following fee structures; percentage based, static fee per transaction, fixed cost, or any combination thereof.
How many bills will it accept at a time?
The unit comes with a 500 bill stacker.
What if something breaks in the middle of a transaction?
If for some reason the device has connectivity issues, loses power, or otherwise malfunctions during a transaction, you can manually resolve the issue by using the transaction log, verifying the amount input by a customer, then manually sending the transaction.
Will Alternative Cryptocurrencies be supported on Skyhook?
Yes. Skyhook will ship with no support for altcoins, but due to the open source nature of this project, the functionality will be added quickly, based on demand.
Will international currencies be accepted?
Skyhook will only support USD out of the gate, but multiple currencies will be supported shortly thereafter, based on demand.
What payment methods do you accept?
As of this time we only accept Bitcoin. We look forward to adding other coins in the future.

We’re scaling up capacity as you read this, but unlike our competitors, we absolutely refuse to sell you something with a two week delivery date that just happens to change every thirteen days.
We’re working through the list of interested parties and, to keep things fair, each order is being manually processed to ensure one unit per customer.
